eyesight new years resolutions

Christmas is just around the corner, and so is the start of a brand new year! That means it’s time to start thinking about resolutions you want to keep in 2017. Perhaps it’s to join the gym? Start a new hobby? Move jobs? These are certainly achievable, but why not add an extra resolution to your list – in the form of your eyes! Here’s a few of our own suggestions to get you started, and unlike that January post-Christmas diet, these are easy to stick to!

1. I will give contact lenses a try

We know it can be a daunting prospect for some, but contact lenses can be an extremely positive lifestyle change for people who have worn glasses – you won’t even notice them in your eyes. They are more convenient and allow you to have more freedom when it comes to physical activities and sports over glasses.

2. I will make sure I’ve booked an eye test

Can’t remember the last time you had an eye test? That’s probably a sign you’re due for one. Not only are eye tests necessary to ensure you’re seeing things as clearly as you could, they are vital to make sure there are no underlying eye problems or infections. Resolve to book a regular eye test and look after your vision.

3. I will wear sunglasses more often

Protecting our eyes from harmful UV rays is a resolution we should all take seriously. Many of us do in the summer; however, this isn’t the only time of year we should be reaching for the shades. Did you know, snow reflects up to 85% of the sun’s rays into our eyes, causing sunburn on our corneas? Resolve to keep a pair in your bag or car at all times to get into the habit.

4. I will try a new style of glasses

If you want to change up your look next year, new glasses are a great way to start! A new frame shape or a new colour can refresh your style and confidence; just watch the compliments flood in!

5. I will take care of my eyes

Make sure you regularly check each of your eyes to spot any differences or changes in the way they look. If you do spot anything, make sure you visit your optometrist. If you wear weekly or monthly contact lenses, keep in the habit of cleaning them properly as advised.

6. I will be free of glasses and contact lenses

If you really want to make a big change this year, getting rid of your glasses or contact lenses could be the step you need. Laser eye surgery is an option, but if it’s not for you, there’s always EyeDream Ortho-K contact lenses. Simply wear at night, remove in the morning and wake up to perfect vision!Whatever your eye-related resolution for 2017, we’re happy to help you achieve it. Contact us or visit us today.
