One Woman’s Journey Through Laser Eye Surgery: Part 3
October 18, 2016
This week we’re revisiting Charlie through her 1 week post op appointment where she talks us through positive progressions with her vision as well as some slight concerns over her eyes focusing properly.1 Week Post OpSo I am 6 days post op and on my way to AVC for my 1 week post op appointment. The fact that I live so far away is no issue as AVC and Eyesite share information about my eyes regularly with each other and both have all the information needed for the post op appointments. The last week has been very eye drop orientated! After the first few days the frequency of anti-inflam and antibiotic drops decreased and I am still using the lubrication drops 8x daily. My vision is improving steadily, although I did have a slight panic when I felt I wasn't focusing properly and it's very hard to not check each eye individually (which I was told not to do). I was warned about the changes that could occur by Eyesite so I knew my eyes weren't getting worse even though I felt they were for about half a day.I do find my eyes get tired if I am on the computer or watch tv for extended periods but by applying drops and getting up for breaks has made the process very manageable. I haven't gone back to work as I am a dentist and didn't want to get water anywhere near my eyes, but if I had a office-based job I feel like I would have been able to return after a few days. My eyes are also not as sensitive to light so I am now just wearing sunglasses outside mainly as protection from dust and dirt. The hardest part is that I am missing doing any exercise as it is very important in the first week to ensure the eyes heal.Next week we follow Charlie on the last stage of her journey, looking at the final outcome of her eyesight and her feelings on the process as a whole, now that she can enjoy life free from glasses and contact lenses!Check out the other posts in Charlie's laser eye surgery journey:Part One Part TwoPart Four
